A general meeting of the members of City U3A Incorporated was held at the Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts, 280 Pitt Street, Sydney, on 19 April 2012 at 2:30 pm.
The meeting unanimously passed the following two resolutions:
- That the registration of the association under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 be cancelled.
- That the surplus assets of the association be distributed to Sydney U3A Incorporated.
While the merger cannot take effect until formal approval by the Department of Fair Trading, practical steps have been taken to ensure a smooth and expeditions transfer of our membership to the Sydney U3A system.
City U3A has prepared a course program for the second half of 2012. Information about these courses, along with Sydney U3A’s courses, and booking arrangements will be sent to you by Sydney U3A, and published on this website.
You will receive a membership renewal notice from Sydney U3A when your City U3A membership expires (for most members 30 June 2012).
We will maintain our post office box at Pott’s Point and email facility for a short time, but after 30 June 2012 all correspondence concerning your membership must be addressed to Sydney U3A (PO Box R1766 Royal Exchange NSW 1225).
The City U3A Management Committee will continue to operate as a course development group within the Sydney U3A structure for the foreseeable future. It will operate much as it did for City U3A, developing courses to be held in the Sydney City Council’s area. Our future courses will be open to all members of Sydney U3A in addition to former City U3A members who have joined Sydney U3A. The committee can be contacted by emailing cityu3acourses@gmail.com.
